South Delhi may face power cut on Sunday
NEW DELHI: Several areas in South Delhi may face power cuts up to nine hours on Sunday as transmission utility Delhi Transco will carry out maintenance work of the power distribution network in the area. Officials of Delhi Transco said supply of power will be affected from 9 am to 6 pm in Govindpuri,Kalkaji,parts of Okhla Industrial
Area,Malviya Nagar and adjoining areas.
BJP stages protest over fuel price hike
New Delhi: Demanding immediate rollback of hike in petrol prices,Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers held a demonstration at Jantar
Mantar on Friday. The government must roll back the price hike of Rs 3.14 per litre on petrol. The decision to hike the petrol price shows the insensitivity of the UPA government towards suffering of the common man, said senior BJP leader V K Malhotra.
Another Bhatta Parsaul accused held
Greater Noida: Manoj Singh,carrying a reward of Rs 10,000,was arrested on Friday in connection with the Bhatta Parsaul agitation by farmers against land acquisition,police said. His arrest came after the main accused,Manvir Singh Tevatia,was nabbed from the Capital recently. Around 20 other accused are still absconding. They had allegedly fired at police at Bhatta Parsaul on May 7,killing two policemen.
Theatre actors detained at CP
New Delhi: Two actors of the Asmita Theatre Group were detained by police from Connaught Place on Friday afternoon. Police said it was done on the basis of suspicion . Theatre Group director Arvind Gaur also reached the police station. The actors were freed around 10 pm.
