Metro officials from five cities join fire safety programme
New Delhi: Delhi Metro and fire service officials on Tuesday participated in a day-long programme on fire safety in Metro systems. Sessions on underground station evacuation,tunnel ventilation,smoke extraction,fire and hydraulics were held. Representatives from Delhi Metro,Delhi Fire Service,Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue department and officials from the Metro projects of Chennai,Bengaluru,Kochi and Kolkata participated in the programme.
Mistaken for thief,man beaten to death,4 held
New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested four persons for the murder of an unidentified man in Bawana. The four have been identified as Varun Rai,Manoj Chaudhary,Satish Tanti and Sagar Rai. The were turning in for the night,when they noticed a man loitering near their shop. Believing he was a thief,they beat him to death. All four have confessed to the crime, police said.
Truck rams into wall,cleaner dead
New Delhi: A 24-year-old man was crushed to death near the Moolchand flyover in South Delhi early Tuesday after the truck he was travelling in rammed into a wall. The victim was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre,where he was declared dead. Identified as Prem Chand,he worked as truck cleaner and was on the front seat with the driver,Jeelash (25),when the incident happened. Police have arrested the driver.
UP roadways to provide Metro feeder services
Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad will get its own Metro feeder services between the soon-to-be-operational Metro stations,if the matter between the Uttar Pradesh Roadways and Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is settled. UP Roadways will provide the Metro feeder bus services from Vaishali Metro station to Indirapuram and Vasundhra. The Uttar Pradesh Roadways has sought land for a workshop and wants the cost of the buses to be borne by the Ghaziabad Development Authority.
