A Singapore national was arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Sunday morning for allegedly trying to smuggle seven kg of hashish.

A Singapore national was arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Sunday morning for allegedly trying to smuggle seven kg of hashish. The passenger,Lee Weiqi (28),had already been under the Narcotics Control Bureau scanner. Weiqi was apprehended during the security checking at the airport where he arrived to board a 6 am Lufthansa Airlines flight to Munich,officials said. “The contraband was destined for Zurich,” an official said.

Three held for illegal slaughter of cattle
The Delhi Police on Sunday claimed to have busted a gang involved in illegal slaughter of cattle with the arrest of three persons. The police also claimed to have recovered 1,076 kg of meat. The accused were identified as Idrish Ahmed (36),Shahnawaz (20) and Zahid Ahmed (19) — all from Bijnour in UP. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) H G S Dhaliwal said the accused were arrested four day ago from Defence Colony. The trio has reportedly told the police that they supplied cattle meat in the Walled City in Delhi,Meerut,Sahibabad,Ghaziabad and other cities of UP.

MCD notice for tax defaulters
Alarmed at its low property tax collection this fiscal,the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has served notices to more than 650 property tax defaulters across the 12 municipal zones. The Corporation has said it will take penal action if the defaulters do not clear their pending dues. MCD officials have also informed that the Corporation will not introduce any other amnesty scheme,like in previous years,for the benefit of those who have not paid their house or property tax.

Fire in socks factory,no casualty
A fire broke out at a socks factory in Central Delhi on Sunday. No casualty was reported in the incident,the police said. The fire service was alerted this morning about a fire in a building on Street 11 in Multani Dhanda near Paharganj. Fire officials said the fire broke out at a ‘one-room’ socks factory,and was brought under control soon.
