DLF power woes to end in 10 days

GURGAON: Senior officials of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam have said that power problems faced by DLF residents will be addressed in the next 10 days. Many blocks in DLF Phase III and II had been witnessing severe electricity crises for the last two to three days. “However,the issue has been sorted out now,” said S Deswal,Superintendent Engineer,DHBVN.

MCD officials discuss drain desilting

NEW DELHI: Several MCD councillors spoke to Commissioner K S Mehra on the issue of cleaning drains before the advent of the monsoon season on Wednesday. They reportedly alleged that work was progressing at a snail’s pace due to shortage of staff. The councillors demanded a drainage plan for each ward,besides separation of the sewerage and drainage system.

Friendship club scam: Two held for extortion

NEW DELHI: Police on Wednesday arrested two persons — Sachender Jeet Singh (33) and Vaibhav Sharma (29) — near Nirmal Vihar Metro station for allegedly extorting Rs 2.5 lakh from a trader’s son in Narela. Police said one of the accused could speak in a girl’s voice. “He had telephonic conversations,which were quite sexual in nature,with the complainant’s son. Later,they blackmailed him by saying that they had a recorded CD of the conversations,” a police officer said.
