125 swine flu cases reported
125 new case of swine flu were reported in the Capital on Tuesday,taking the number of those affected by the H1N1 virus in New Delhi so far to 8,626. Of the 125 cases reported,67 were children. “Of the 8,626 cases reported so far,4,992 were children,” a senior health department official said. So far,60 people have died in the city due to disease. As per the World Health Organisation,India has been reporting the maximum number of swine flu cases in the South-East Asia region.

Rs 10 lakh ‘looted’
Ghaziabad: In an alleged case of looting,a Makanpur village resident claimed a bag containing Rs 10 lakh was stolen from his car. The complainant,Deepak Tyagi,told the police that he was carrying Rs 26 lakh to settle a land dispute case that had come up before the village panchayat. While Tyagi carried Rs 11 lakh with him to the panchayat,he left behind Rs 15 lakh in his car,the police said. The police added that the looters allegedly broke the window of the car and fled with the bag. The police,however,found Rs 5 lakh in the car during search. “Rs 10 lakh was looted. The case is mysterious as no one leaves Rs 15 lakh in a car. Also,shards of broken window were not found inside the car. Someone must have hit the pane from inside. We are investigating the case,” said Rajesh Diwedi,SHO,Indirapuram.

Fight during party
NEW DELHI: Three members of a family alleged that some hooligans sent by the local councillor beat them up with sticks while they were having a birthday party in Sarai Rohilla,North Delhi,on Monday night. The police said the fight happened over the music being played at the party. Surender,a resident of Padam Nagar,was celebrating his son’s birthday when he had a heated argument with some residents over the loud music. The family alleged that Councillor Satbir Sharma sent his men to beat them. The councillor refuted the allegations saying that the family was trying to frame him.

Man killed in accident
New Delhi: An 18-year-old man was killed when his motorcycle rammed a stationary tempo in West Delhi on Tuesday morning,the police said. The incident took place in Nangloi around 2 am and the deceased has been identified as Monu. “The tempo was parked on the road and due to low-visibility,Monu could not anticipate the distance and his bike collided with the tempo,” a senior police official said. Monu,hailing from Bahadurgarh,was returning home when he met with the accident,the police said.
