“We are exchanging ideas and exploring the medium in our own ways,” says performance photographer Bhatt. In her 2009 solo A Suite,at Chatterjee and Lal gallery in Mumbai,she used images taken in Sohir in Gujarat and constructed sets in front of them to take photographs that featured her as well. This time she intends to capture a performance wherein she would be dragged along the street near the Khoj studio in Khirkee with two men in military uniforms in tow. The visual documentation of the journey and the reaction of those present will be part of an exhibition that will be held at the end of the residency on October 27.

Madhavan and Dias are occupied teaching the art of pinhole photography to children in Khirkee. “Each of them can make their own camera,” says Madhavan,referring to the make-shift light-proof box with a pinhole on one side. Light passes through this single point and refracts the image on the opposite side of the box. “People are always interested when we move around with the camera,” says Madhavan,who along with Dias is exploring Old Delhi during the residency. They are also part of the Goa Center for Alternative Photography.

Talwar will exhibit the night sky that he photographed from the Hatu Peak near Narkanda earlier this month. Pursuing astro-photography for more than a decade,this will be his first exhibition. “There haven’t been many takers for it,” he states,adding on a positive note,“People are now getting interested in the off-beat”.
