If you are not at the stadium today, heres a list of places where you can catch the IPL finale in the city
IPL S third season might have become a veritable muck-fest,but it has not quite managed to take the attention away from the highly-anticipated finals between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings today. Dont be disappointed if you havent been able to manage tickets for the final in Mumbai. Theatre owners in the city are offering a chance to catch the action on field in a larger than life setting, complete with a 3D viewing experience. Just imagine watching Sachin Tendulkar strike the ball for a six. You can almost feel the ball coming towards you. That is what watching in a 3D format is all about, says Amitabh Vardhan,CEO,PVR Cinemas, who has eight such screens across Delhi and the NCR.
With the semi-final broadcast on the 3D screens proving to be a sell-out on both April 21 st and 22 nd,he promises a better viewing experience than a stadium for the finals today. We have already achieved 80 per cent occupancy in the past few days and hope to sell out the remaining seats too, says Vardhan, who has made arrangements for cheerleaders and DJ,inside each theatre. The damage for the experience will be Rs 500 – Rs 2,000,depending on your choice of seat. There is also the option of watching the matches in a regular projection for Rs 200.
BIG Cinemas may just have one screen dedicated for the 3D broadcast of the IPL finals at The Great India Place,Noida but they are making the most of it. They too will have a stadium-like ambience with live music, cheerleaders, and a 40 ft wide-screen. One will have to shell out Rs 600 per person for this experience. The price of food and beverages is additional, says Tushar Dhingra,COO,BIG Cinemas. With over 65 per cent seats sold out,you can still try your luck at grabbing a place.
But if youd rather not spend so much, the DLF Promenade,Vasant Kunj,is hosting a 3D screening of the finals at the HUB,the open air space between the DLF Emporio and Promenade malls at no extra cost. We will be handing out special 3D glasses to visitors for watching the matches at no extra cost. 10 food stalls will also be set up for a gourmet experience, says Pushpa Bector,VP,DLF Promenade.
The numerous watering holes across the city are also getting their act together. At the Smoke House Grill,GK-2,the evening can be spent sipping on one of their specially created summer cocktail pitchers, while watching the finals on their twin 3D projection screens. We have sent out messages to our patrons, many of whom have booked with us in advance. We will also welcome walk-in customers, says Deepali Gupta, brand manager,Smoke House Grill. Meanwhile,Kainoosh at the DLF Promenade Mall is offering the option of an intimate IPL viewing experience at their private dining room,Izara, with seating for 20. We will be handing out special 3D viewing glasses, says Rajesh Chatterjee, corporate general manager.
