One can enjoy authentic Sufi music at the Nizamuddin Dargah,or at a concert by performers such as Abida Parveen. But if youre willing to loosen Sufi music from its traditional moorings,Sufi Nights at Buzz,MGF Mall,Saket,could be a promising pit-stop on Thursdays. Repackaged for the urban Indian who would rather hang out in malls,the Sufi Nights have DJ Sumit Sethi and DJ Rahul spinning popular tracks by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan,Parveen,Kailash Kher,Zila Khan and Zulfikar Ahmed Khan to name a few. We plan to have live jugalbandi remixes by adding beats and percussion. Performances by contemporary Sufi singers are also on the cards, says Sethi,who has been spinning for 13 years. Sufi is his recent obsession. The idea is to create a Sufiaana experience in a mall, he adds. Spirituality after a shopping spree now,thats a first.
