37-year-old arrested on rape charges

A 37-year-old real estate agent has been arrested from Saket area on charges of rape. Police officers said that the accused was arrested after his live-in girlfriend lodged a complaint of rape against him after he refused to marry her. Police officers said that the woman,Anjali (name changed to protect identity),had lodged a complaint on August 28.

The accused,identified as Mahesh Kumar,used live with his wife and two children in Saket. Following a dispute arose between him and his wife in 1999,he moved out and started living separately.

Police officers said that he met Anjali during this period and started living with him. The couple has been living together for the last 10 years.

“Anjali inquired about marriage many times,but he kept refusing. The girl claims that she even became pregnant a couple of times and was asked to undergo abortions by Mahesh.
