3 commit suicide across city

The police said Mahima,alias Pooja,was forcibly engaged to one Sunil. “This morning,she again had a heated argument with her parents,after which she went inside her room and hanged herself. Her father,Ramesh,took her to a nearby hospital,where she died during treatment,” an officer said.

In the second incident,Manoj,a 26-year-old married man,allegedly hanged himself from the ceiling with the help of an electric wire at his house in the Palam area on Saturday. When his father,Hari,after returned home he found the main door locked. He rang the doorbell and when there was no answer,he called the police around 9 am.

“The police broke open the door and found Manoj hanging. His father said he had fought with his wife,who had gone to her parents’ house,” an officer said.

On Friday,Rajni (20) allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison as she was being harassed by her husband’s family. The police said: “Rajni’s family has alleged that Kunal,her husband,and his family would beat her up over dowry and she was forced to commit suicide. We have initiated an SDM-level inquiry into the matter,” the police said.
