Total three cases have been reported in the new year.
Two more cases of swine flu were diagnosed in the capital on Friday, taking the tally of cases since December last year to 16. Of these, three cases were reported in the new year.
On Friday, a 35-year-old woman from Chittaranjan Park and a 33-year-old woman from Chhattarpur, were diagnosed with the virus. They are being treated at private hospitals in Chhattarpur and Vasant Kunj, respectively, Health department officials said.
Meanwhile, the secretary and senior officials of the union health ministry held meetings with Delhi government officials and reviewed swine flu preparations in hospitals in the capital. Delhi health secretary SCL Das also chaired a meeting with senior officials of the department to review the preparations.
The Delhi government has sent stocks of Tamiflu tablets and syrups to the 22 Delhi hospitals authorised to treat H1N1 patients in Delhi over January 1-2. “In the last two days, we made fresh purchases and supplied drugs to all hospitals for both adult and paediatric patients. There is no shortage of drugs. We have also asked hospitals to keep isolation centres ready,” Dr Charan Singh, the nodal officer for swine flu in the Delhi government, said.
Till last month, stocks of the drugs were being maintained by the Health department. Hospitals had been asked to put in requests for the medicines as per requirement.
Hospitals were also instructed to get all patients diagnosed by the eight designated laboratories and also get confirmatory tests from the National Centre for Disease Control.
