Nine teenagers, including seven minors, have been apprehended after two groups from different communities got into a scuffle in East Delhi’s Mayur Vihar after Ganesh Visarjan, police said Tuesday. However, ruling out a communal angle to the incident, the police said the clash happened over previous enmity. According to DCP (East) Apoorva Gupta, the Mayur Vihar Police Station received a call late on Monday. The caller alleged that he had been attacked by a group of boys.
“After verifying facts and CCTV footage, it was found that a group of boys from Block 31 and nearby blocks of Trilokpuri were returning after Ganesh Visarjan in Block 36,” said the officer.
At Block 32, they came face to face with a few boys with whom they had a previous enmity. “Soon, a verbal argument ensued that escalated to a fist fight. However, no injuries were reported by either party,” Gupta said.
A case was registered and all the boys involved have been apprehended after scanning the CCTV footage, the DCP added.
