Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna on Monday approved an important proposal to de-notify major areas in Delhi’s southwest and east zones. As reported by Newsline on Sunday, the DDA today placed before Khanna a proposal that will facilitate a takeover of general civic amenities by MCD in areas like Mehrauli,Masoodpur,Mahipalpur,Vasant Kunj Enclave, and many Lal Dora colonies.

“The Lieutenant-Governor has approved the proposal; it will now be sent to the Urban Development ministry for its approval,” DDA’s public relations director Neemo Dhar said. The proposal will be notified through an official gazette once it gets the ministry’s approval. A statement issued by DDA on Monday said: “De-notification of this area means MCD will immediately take over the control of building activities. Provisions of the Municipal Corporation Act will also apply in the area.” The statement said the proposal for de-notification was moved because these areas has remained undeveloped for long.
