After distributing the welfare measures, a meeting of district in-charges appointed for setting up booth committees ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls took place.
Addressing the reporters, former minister and Royapuram MLA D Jayakumar listed the welfare measures the party had implemented in the state when they were in power.
While commenting on the recent incident in Tiruchengode in Tamil Nadu’s Namakkal district, where a government doctor and a broker were arrested by the police for being involved in the sale of newborns illegally and also being a part in an illegal kidney racket, Jayakumar slammed the ruling DMK government for failing to maintain law and order in the state.
“Is there a government running now? We are being ruled by a puppet — Chief Minister M K Stalin. The public should be protected; women and children should feel safe. The law and order is in shambles here, there is an increase in petrol bomb culture and there is no security even for ruling party members. This is an anti-people government,” he said.
Further, commenting on the ongoing issues surrounding the release of actor Vijay’s movie Leo, Jayakumar claimed the film Industry was functioning independently under the AIADMK regime but now, the producers are being forced to sell their movies to Red Giant Movies, a company allegedly linked to DMK’s Youth Welfare and Sports Development Minister and son of Stalin, Udhayanidhi Stalin.
“Those who do not sell their movies to Red Giant are being threatened and given all sorts of trouble by the DMK government. The company has a monopoly in the film industry,” Jayakumar said.
Last month, the AIADMK had snapped ties with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and expressed confidence of emerging victorious with an “alliance of like-minded parties” under their leadership.
