UT Police still clueless

Chandigarh Police is still clueless about the theft at Sector 4 that took place last Sunday with no breakthrough yet in the case,police sources said on Tuesday.

Two masked miscreants had looted Rs 3 lakh from a petrol pump in Sector 4 on Sunday night.

The incident that occured near MLA hostels has put the UT Police in a tight spot.

DSP (Central) Ashish Kapoor said that the police has zeroed in on many suspicious persons and has interrogated them.

Police is taking the help of CCTV footage and the role of any of the petrol pump employees in the loot cannot be ruled out,Kapoor also said.

“We are interrogating the petrol pump staff working during night shift and a suspect who has been named by the owner,” Kapoor added.

The police has also quizzed the owner of a PCO located in Sector 8 from where the owner received a call.

A ‘well-wisher’ who identified himself as Anil alerted the owner to the information that cash being taken from the petrol pump to the bank was being watched by goons.

Meanwhile,the owner of the pump,Nihar Mahindar Singh on Tuesday met IG Police R P Upadhyaya and demanded immediate action in the case.

“We have been assured results in the case by the IGP,” Nihar revealed.
