UT hosts all-breed dog show

The dog show,organised by the Chandigarh Kennel Club at Leisure Valley,Sector 10,Chandigarh concluded today.

The dog show,organised by the Chandigarh Kennel Club at Leisure Valley,Sector 10,Chandigarh concluded today. Over 300 dogs of as many as fifteen breeds participated in the event. The dog show witnessed a sparkling rush of participants,audience and even pet sellers.

The all-breed show witnessed more spectators than the labrador speciality show. The competitions went on within three different rings simultaneously for various breeds like German Shepherd,Rottweiler,Poodle,Bull Mastiff,Great Dane,Saint Bernard,Neapolitan Mastiff,Beagle,Bull Terrier,Boxer,Dachshund,Gaddis and Pomerians one after the other.

“There are so many dogs in the arena,but the most likeable and worth seeing were Saint Bernards,Bull Mastiffs and Rottweilers. Despite the chilling weather,many people visited the show,” said Amardeep Singh,a student.

Not only did the spectators witness the competition within the ring but also ended up purchasing pets. Louise Dorr (Australia),Linda Buckley (Australia) and Shharat Sharma (India) judged the show.

The final results for the show were declared for two rings. The winner of first ring was Great Dane,German Shepherd stood second and Rottweiler at third. Labrador,Golden Retriever,Dachshund also won in the first ring. Even in the second ring,the first prize was bagged by Great Dane,second and third by German Shepherd after then Labrador,Dachshund,Pug and Rottweiler. Pug was declared best puppy of the show.
