Increase of 20% for non-plan head

The UT Administration has received an enhanced budget for the year 2013-14 with the Union government increasing the overall allocation of funds to the city both in plan and non-plan heads.

Out of the total Rs 876 crore allocated under the plan head,Rs 468 crore are under the capital head while Rs 407 come under the revenue head.

However,for the current financial year,out of the total allocation of Rs 737 crore,Rs 296 crore were under the capital head.

In the plan head,there is an increase of 19% from the last fiscal’s Rs 737 crore to the present Rs 876 crore allocated for the year 2013-14.

Similarly,under the non-plan budget against the budget estimate of Rs 2178.78 crore last year,the ensuing fiscal’s budget estimate is pegged at Rs 2,615.56 crore,marking an increase of 20% in non-plan budget.

This year,the most important sector with maximum budget allocation is the urban development with the highest 29.72 per cent of the total funds earmarked for the urban growth.

This is followed by the education sector which has been allocated 19.83% of the total budget followed by transport with 15 per cent of the budget and health with 12.21% allocation of funds. The least on the priority list is the housing sector which is pegged at 5.54% and social security and social welfare with 2.18% allocation from the total budget estimates.
