The road stretch from Sector 9/10/16/17 roundabout (Matka chowk) to Sector 16 Cricket Stadium remained closed for traffic near the roundabout after the function ended and as the baton was being taken to the UT guest house.

All the buses coming from Haryana,Punjab,Himachal Pradesh and other places to ISBT Sector 17,Chandigarh were diverted towards Sector 17/18/21/22 (ISBT) roundabout from Kisan Bhawan roundabout and Piccadilly roundabout via Himalaya Marg and entered ISBT Sector 17 from Small near Gurdial Singh petrol pump.

After the programme ended at 7 pm,a traffic snarl was witnessed between Matka Chowk and MLA hostel and also near the Stadium Chowk. The jam lasted for around 20 minutes as the route was closed. It being a weekend,a large number of residents had ventured out of their homes and were caught in traffic in the evening. On the other hand, there were no traffic jams when the baton arrived in the afternoon.
