Soon, the UT Traffic Police would be seen chasing traffic violators to nab and penalise them for their traffic violations. The police are getting all the 20 motorcycles assigned to them repaired and making sure that they are in good working condition.
At present, the motorcycles of the Traffic Police can be just seen parked at rotaries and junctions and the policemen just inform other units about any major traffic problems. Police have 20 motorcycles for this purpose, but these are hardly seen chasing any violators.
We observe that, generally at traffic light points,if one person jumps a red light, several others follow as no one is there to chase them down. Now we will be deploying these motorcycles at random points in the city so that they can chase and nab violators. If they are not able to catch the violators then they would at least get to a point ,without posing any danger to other commuters, where the registration number of the vehicle can be noted down,so that a traffic violation information slip (TVIS) can be sent to them, said SP (traffic) Maneesh Chaudhry.
