‘Tortured’ minor identifies 3 cops

A day after Newsline reported that a 14-year-old boy was allegedly tortured by cops at the Sector 61 police post,Chandigarh Police has ordered an inquiry into the matter. The police today called Ricky and his family to verify their allegations of torture and harassment and the boy identified three police personnel involved in the torture. The victim,along with his family,met DSP (South) B S Negi at the Sector 36 police station today. The DSP had called the family to the police station to verify their the complaint.

Ricky’s father Jai Kumar said,“The police listened to our complaint and noted all the details in the morning and later in the evening Ricky was called to identify the police personnel who had beaten him up. He identified three people who had beat him up”.

Speaking to Newsline,Negi said,“We called the victim and his family to the police station to verify their allegations. We will investigate the matter and action will be taken according.”

On Friday,Ricky’s family had alleged that the police picked had him at 9 PM on September 24 and taken him to the Sector 61 police post on the suspicion of breaking a window pane of a house in the colony. The boy was allegedly beaten up by the cops and made to stand naked for over two hours.
