The DJ Trio preps up for its first act in the city

They are in it because they love it. Period. DJ Emn,DJ Vishal and DJ TR aka Rana realised their forte,their sense of music clicked,and here they are,as DJ Trio,checking the sound system for their performance at Rock in Rio,Sector 43 organised by The Invincibles. Trained from Japan in the art of turntables and electro,DJ Emn aka Aman from Manali likes to keep it simple – “A mix of everything,Punjabi beats with Hindi numbers and Western influences,” he says while Rana’s into house music and city’s DJ Vishal sticks to Punjabi punch. Music,for the three,is one of the greatest glues. It brings people together and is a great leveller,and keeping that spirit in mind,the three work on an ecclectic mix of music – “electronica,progressive,different genres of house music,hip hop fused with Hindi and Punjabi,” says Aman adding how while some DJs present music,they produce it. “We are into making our own remixes and producing our own sound and have worked on underground music too,” adds Rana. At present,they are busy experimenting Himachali folk music with contemporary sounds. “But it’s a little difficult pleasing the Chandigarh crowd. Crowds in Delhi or other cities will jive to anything,especially a new song or sound whereas Chandigarh lends its ears reluctantly. They want to dance to what’s new on Tv,to what’s top of the charts,not something that’s an experiment….and interestingly,once the new sound is a hit,they want it!” laught the three.
