Three rebels returned to the party fold in the presence of state Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh,Congress Legislative Party (CLP) Leader Sunil Jakhar and other senior leaders at a public rally here on Saturday.
The three Hansraj Jossan,Sukhjinder Lali Majithia and Naresh Puri had quit the party after being denied tickets during the Assembly elections and had contested as Independents. While Jossan had contested against Sukhbir Badal from Jalalabad,Majithia and Puri were in the fray from Majitha and Sujanpur respectively.
Welcoming the trio,Amarinder said their homecoming will strengthen the party. The three rebels,on their part,said they had contested as Independents to prove that they deserved the party ticket. We feel good and relieved after coming back, they added. Earlier,Independent MLA from Mukerian,Rajneesh Bubby also joined the Congress.
Meanwhile,the PPCC chief demanded the deployment of para military forces during the Dasuya bypolls for free and fair elections. Flaying the SAD-BJP government,he said the ruling alliance cracked jokes and ridiculed the Opposition whenever the Congress raised serious issues in the Assembly.
