Three booked in rape case

A person was arrested on charges of raping a minor girl,while two others,including a woman,were arrested for assisting him in the crime,on Friday. The police have registered a case of wrongful detention,rape,criminal intimidation and kidnapping under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Surinder Singh,a resident of Sector 56.

Besides,Sarabjit Kaur and Gurwinder Singh were also arrested for abetment of rape. The victim is a minor and is studying in Class X. Her father has expired and she lives with her mother Balbir Kaur and two bothers and a sister. Balbir is employed with a gas agency in SAS Nagar. In her complaint,the victim alleged that Sarabjit (35),who lives in her locality,called her up and asked to come to her house on pretext of some work. The accused then introduced her to Gurwinder Singh (36) alias Kala,who was already there. They were later joined by Surinder Singh (20) alias Golu,who is an auto-rickshaw driver. Sarabjit then asked the victim to sleep with Surinder,but she refused. On this,the accused pushed her and locked the room from outside. Gurwinder then raped her. The victim alleged the trio threatened her of dire consequences,if she reported the matter to the police. The girl went to her house and told her mother about the incident,who filed a complaint with the police. The police registered a case after medical examination of the victim. Her clothes were seized and all the accused were produced before the court.
