Auto-rickshaw union on strike tomorrow

CHANDIGARH: The Tricity Auto Rickshaw Union LPG (affiliated with JDU) has decided to sit on a day-long strike in Sector 17,Bridge Market on Monday if the problems of LPG auto owners were not addressed by the Chandigarh Administration.

Man held for sexual harrassment

CHANDIGARH: Police arrested a resident of Colony No. 4 after a 23-year-old woman alleged that the he tried to outrage her modesty. The accused,Mohamed Aslam was arrested on the spot after a call was made to the police around 5.30 Friday. A case under Section 354 of the IPC has been registered against the accused.

Water meters stolen from Sector 56

CHANDIGARH: A resident of Sector 56 on Saturday alleged that an unknown person stole stereo systems from cars and water meters of many residents of Ambedkar Awas,Sector 56 on Friday night. According to the police,a total of three car stereos and 10 water meters were stolen from the locality.

Over Rs 4.5 lakh stolen from Sec 31

CHANDIGARH: A resident of Ram Darbar alleged that an unknown person stole Rs 4.25 lakh,seven gold rings,two gold chains,two gold jewellery sets,three pair of gold earrings,two pair of silver anklets and a mobile phone from his residence Friday night. A case of theft has been registered at Sector 31 PS.

Two cases of vehicle theft lodged

CHANDIGARH: Two separate cases of auto theft were registered Saturday. In the first,a resident of Daria village reported theft of his motorcycle from the village on Saturday. A case of theft has been registered at Industrial Area police station. In the second,a resident of Sector 41-A reported theft of his scooter from in front of her residence. A case of theft was lodged at Sector 39 police station.
