World in a watch!
Here’s a unique watch aimed at the prolific traveller

The jet lag apart, what’s the most frustrating thing for a traveller as he steps off the plane halfway across the world? In a majority of cases,it’s a rush to find out the exact time and re-set one’s watch! And then a few days later,on your journey back home,it’s time (pun intended) to hit the re-set button once again. “Travelling overseas has become a common phenomenon, specially amongst the corporate set,” points out Surendra Kumar Nag,senior regional manager (North) for Citizen Watches. Given the need gap for a watch to time itself on its own,the premium Japanese watch maker has launched it’s globally renowned radio controlled watch in India. “This unique watch is designed to receive standard time radio-waves from five stations including Germany, the USA,Japan (East and West),and China and automatically correct the time. As a result,it not only offers greater accuracy but added ease too,” mentioned Nag as he formally introduced the watch in Chandigarh. On reception of the radio waves, the watch automatically corrects its time and date, allowing a smooth transition of time without the user having to worry about it. The “super watch” also comes with the feature of world time, where a user can choose from 26 cities and UTC. “An added attraction is the watch’s stylish look with its analogue chronograph inspired by the Flight Pilot’s watch design,” added Nag mentioning how this watch too packs in all the Eco-drive features and comes with power reserve indicator, alarm, and is water resistant up to 200 meters. So what’s it going to cost you to stay on time? “The watch is priced at approximately Rs 66,000,” informs Nag who is buoyant about the sales scene in the region.

Citizen has in Chandigarh witnessed a 34 percent increase in sales volume. “With this impressive growth,we have achieved a 20 percent market share this year in the northern region and envisage a 30 percent market share in the coming fiscal year,” informed the representative. Also this year, according to Nag,Punjab will be a key market. “We plan to launch three more exclusive showrooms in Amritsar and Jalandhar and in Chandigarh along with Service Centre Support. Also with the launch of the radio controlled watch and our latest collection,we are looking to double our turnover by 2012,” he informed.
