DAV Colleges Aaghaaz is on centrestage again,winning the overall dramatics trophy at the IIT Fest
The winning streak continues and the act gets more thrilling and challenging every year. Back from the mega IIT Fest in Mumbai,after winning the overall trophy for dramatics 2008,DAV Colleges talented theatre group Aaghaaz is brimming with pride,as they won the top spots for the stage play,histrionics and the individual event Biggest Liar. As Simran Singh takes the stage to demonstrate Love Day,an individual event,a brilliant and touching inter-racial love story on the relationship between Bajaj Chetak and Honda Activa,and how they could never meet. Subtle,funny,yet with a small message,Simran won the hearts of the jury. I just thought of the story then and there and enacted it with all my heart,it was spontaneous and I was competing against 37 participants, smiles Simran. Prof Chaudhary,whos seen the group grow from strength to strength,with many former group members doing wonderfully well in Mumbai in films,television,radio,attributes the success to the total dedication of the 14 group members. They are so dedicated and talented and equally good at their academics and the Principal and faculty is always there for support and encouragement, adds Prof Chaudhary,whom the group depends upon.
Navdeep,a student of B.Com II bagged the prize for histrionics,as she played various characters that of a London-returned young man obsessed with the West and his simple mom,his relatives in the village. Navdeeps a natural,as she was at ease with varied accents,roles and personas. Brahm Rakshas Ka Shishya was also staged,the theme being,true knowledge is imparted,while the street play,So Sad No,dealt with issues like eve-teasing,reality TV,recession,terrorism…We are already thinking about our next feat, chorus the winners.
