The Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi has been organising theatre festivals that focus on socially relevant issues such as female foeticide,AIDS,drug abuse and environmental protection in various villages in and around Chandigarh. Keeping in view the overwhelmingly positive response of village audiences,the Akademi will present four plays from May 22 to 27 at Ramdarbar,Burail and Kaimbwala. Sadak Hamarey Baap Ki is a satire on violation of traffic rules,directed by Rajiv Mehta. Rishma Hun Mitti Hoyian directed by Sumer Singh probes the serious problem of female foeticide. Main Eh Nahi Hon Dayangi by Gaurav Sharma is a comment on drug abuse,while Dilon Ki Hartal directed by Vijay Kumar looks at society around where people eat without caring for their health. The plays will be staged at 5 pm everyday.
