At its 172nd Baithak Programme,Goraya-based vocalist Hari Dev cast a magical spell on the listeners gathered at Bhaskar Rao Indoor Auditorium,Pracheen Kala Kendra Kendra,Sector 35.

A noted vocalist from Punjab,Dev is a master of khayal,thumri,bhajan and Gurmat sangeet and has been performing on the radio and Doordarshan for last three decades.

Gifted with an innate sense of music,the singer began his recital with Raga Jaijaiwanti,which he handled beautifully,with reposeful alaap,badhat,sargams,boltaans,tuneful phrasings and refreshingly deployed variations. The fast tempo composition Mohe Mandir ab lo nahi aaye was recited with with lilting phrasings.

His next rendering of the evening was Adhey sumaridh mana in Raga Malkauns.

Dev concluded his recital with a kaafi that denoted his high level of musicianship and artistic depth. Pradeep Sharma on the harmonium and Mehmood Khan on the tabla accompanied him.
