The Punjab government has chalked out a plan to set up skill development centres at the village-level to impart training to the less-educated youngsters in order to make them employable,Ajit Singh Kohar,Transport,Employment generation and Training minister said on Monday after inaugurating the Apparel Training and Design Smart (ATDS) Centre Government Polytechnic,Khunimajra (near Kharar).
Kohar said the state was committed to promote quality technical education and special emphasis was being laid on vocational training so that youngsters could get employment in local industries or start their own ventures. He expressed confidence that the newly set-up ATDS centre would play a significant role in imparting apparel making and smart designing training to youngsters.
He pointed out that these were the emerging industries in the country with a huge potential. The government would tie up with such industries to help youngsters in getting employment,he added.
