Despite running against the wind on a cold morning,Simranjit Singh and Gagandeep Kaur,both of St Soldier International School,Sector 26,set the floor ablaze with their superlative performances on the third and final day of the Inter-School Tournament organised by Sports Department. While Simranjit won the boys' 100 metre title,Gagandeep Kaur went on to claim both the girl's 100 metre as well as shot put titles in the girls' category. St Soldier International School also emerged winners in the 4x100 metre relay races for boys and girls. In archery,Veer Singh of Government Senior Secondary School,Sector 27,stole the show after he secured gold medals in 40 metre,30 metre and individual events. Jasman Kaur of DAV Model,Sector 15 struck gold in the 40 and 30 metre competitions for girls,respectively. Meanwhile,Sacred Heart School,Sector 26,eves outplayed Shivalik Public School 2-0 to win the girls' badminton title. Delhi Public School,Sector 40 outclassed Moti Ram Arya School Sector 27 by a margin of 2-0 in the final to claim the boys' title. St Xavier's School,Sector 44,girls came up with a spirited performance to defeat Carmel Convent School,Sector 9,by a margin of 23-15 in the final to claim basketball title. Mankanwar scored eight points,Rosy Merry six,Deepika five,while Ijeom contributed four points. The boys' basketball title went to New Public School,Sector 18,who rallied to defeat St Xavier's School-44 by 48-30 in the final. Gurloveleen and Sumit scored 18 and 17 points,respectively,to help the team win. Piyush (10) and Vishwadeep (9) tried to keep the team in title hunt but their efforts went in vain. The NPS-18 eves thrashed IS Dev Samaj-21by 29-6 margin to claim the third place. Meanwhile,DAV Senior Secondary School,Sector 8,and Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 18 won the girls' and boys' hockey titles,respectively.
