Siddharth,Sohal steer PCC to victory

Siddharth Kaul snared four wickets while opener Sunny Sohal struck a superb half-century (62) to steer PCC to an easy six-wicket win over ONGC.

Siddharth Kaul snared four wickets while opener Sunny Sohal struck a superb half-century (62) to steer PCC to an easy six-wicket win over ONGC in the 20th edition of the All India JP Atray Memorial Cricket Tournament held at the PCA Stadium on Friday.

Earlier,PCC won the toss and elected to field first. The Taruwar Kohli-led PCC team soon reduced ONGC to 37 for 4 as medium-pacers Siddharth Kaul and Sandeep Sharma made full use of the conditions and troubled the opposition batsmen with their prodigious swing and discipline. Soon,the ONGC team found themselves staring down the barrel at 70 for 7 in 19.2 overs. Parveen Gupta (31) and Sarang Rawat (29) then added 50 runs for the eight wicket to push the score past the 100-run mark as ONGC were all out for 135 in 38.1 overs. Siddharth Kaul was the pick of PCC bowlers with four wickets while Sandeep Sharma and Taruwar Kohli bagged two wickets each.

In reply,PCC openers,Sunny Sohal and Ravi Inder Singh,gave a sound start to the team by adding 42 runs for the first wicket. Sohal was in splendid form and smashed a 66-ball 62 to help the team reach the target for the loss of four wickets in 28.2 overs. He hit 11 boundaries in his knock. PCC logged five points including a bonus for the victory.

Debutants DASCB win

Arish Alam’s superb century (105) helped debutants Defence Accounts Sportsv Control Board (DASCB) thrash BSNL by five wickets in a lop-sided encounter at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium.

Earlier,BSNL batted first and were all out for 211 in 46.5 overs. Despite getting starts,none of the BSNL batsmen could make it count. Niranjan Behra top scored with 37 runs. For DASCB,Charanjit Singh was the start performer with the ball as he took five wickets for 28 runs.

In reply,DASCB rode on Arish’s century to reach the target in 39.5 overs. Murtuza Ali also struck a fine century (56) for the team. DASCB garnered five points including a bonus for the victory.

BSNL: 211 all out in 46.5 over’s (Niranjan Behra 37,G. Satish 34,B S Pati 33,Joginder Singh 30,Charanjit Singh 5 for 28,Tarun Sharma 2 for 36); DASCB: 215 in 39.5 overs (Arish Alam 105,Murtuja Ali 56,Deepak 37,Shantanu Pilke 2 for 49).

SBO Mysore win

Buoyed by superb performances by Ravi Jangid (106 runs) and Amol Junghare (5 for 57),Income Tax XI defeated State Bank of Mysore by 25 runs to log four points.

Batting first,Income Tax XI posted 251 runs in 47.4 overs. Jangid was in top form as he hit six boundaries and three mighty sixes during his knock that came off 114 balls. G Vignesh also hammered a quickfire 24-ball 49 to help the team post a competitive total. HS Sharath bagged three wickets for State Bank of Mysore.

Chasing the target,State Bank of Mysore were skittled out for 226 in 45.4 overs. Chetan William (45),Amith Verma (44) and Mayank Aggarwal (40) were the main scorers for the team. For Income Tax,Amol bowled well to take five wickets.

Income Tax XI: 251 all out in 47.4 overs (Ravi Jangid 106,G. Vignesh 49,H S Sharath 3 for 41,Anirudit Joshi 3 for 38,Anand Katti 2 for 45); SBO Mysore: 226 all out in 45.4 overs (Chetan William 45,Amith Verma 44,Myank Aggarwal 40,Amol Junghare 5 for 57,Himanshu Joshi 2 for 44,Ravi Jangid 1 for 32).

Kuldeep stars in CAG win

Kuldeep Rawal came up with a stellar all-round show (4 for 42,40 not out) as CAG defeated FCI by six wickets to log five points at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula.

CAG won the toss and elected to bowl first. Their decision paid rich dividends as they skittled out the FCI for 198 in 43.5 overs. Mayank Sidana top scored for the team with a 57-ball 51. Kuldeep Rawal bowled well to pick up four wickets.

In reply,CAG scored 201 for 4 in 38 overs. Swapnil Salvi top scored with a 92-ball 75 but it was Kuldeep’s late charge,in which he hit 40 runs off 19 balls,that helped the team record victory.
