Sibling Revelry

Builder Avinash Bhosale’s family is in a tizzy of celebrations. And the mood is infectious.

The grand marriage ceremonies of Amit Bhosale-Shweta Jain and Swapnali Bhosale-Nakul Vengsarkar are quite the talk of this wedding season

Builder Avinash Bhosale’s family is in a tizzy of celebrations. And the mood is infectious. His son Amit and daughter Swapnali are tying the knot one after the other in lavish ceremonies,in true Bhosale style. Known as Pune’s king of good times, the builder’s list of invitees, like all of his previous parties, includes Pune’s bigwigs as well as some of the country’s leading personalities and of course politicians.

Amit got engaged to Shweta Jain, daughter of Kapil Jain (Vardhman Group),in October at Bhosale’s Westin hotel. “I just knew she was the one for me. Nevertheless,we have spent about eight months getting to know each other thereby giving ourselves ample time to decide,” says Amit. Shweta is from Ludhiana and the groom-to-be headed there on November 20 for a cocktail function. “It’s a function from the girl’s side and the only one being held in Ludhiana,” he reveals. Their sangeet ceremony will be held in Pune on December 3 at their residence, which is nothing less than a palace. After the wedding ceremony in Delhi on December 7,a grand reception will be held at Amanora on December 11.

To add to the celebrations,Swapnali’s engagement to Nakul Vengsarkar — the architect son of former Indian skipper Dilip Vengsarkar — will be held at their residence on November 25. A source close to the family says,“The family is indeed very happy. The celebrations will continue till February when Swapnali will tie the knot. It has all just happened so fast and the ceremonies will take place in quick succession. In fact,Swapnali’s engagement to Nakul was announced at Amit’s engagement.”

Swapnali and Nakul will have a weekend wedding at Umaid Bhavan in Jodhpur. This dream wedding,in a gorgeous setting, will be held on February 7. It will be preceded by functions on February 5 and 6 at the same venue. “The reception will be held in Mumbai on February 12,” Amit reveals.

The family is uncharacteristically reticent to talk about the weddings and want to keep other details as private as possible.

Avinash Bhosale preferred not to talk about the celebrations lined up,leaving it to son Amit to do all the talking. When contacted,Dilip Vengsarkar said,“It is a private affair. So I don’t want to talk about it.”
