Riding high on good form,Shrestha of Haryana thrashed Saransh of Haryana in straight frames.

CHANDIGARH: Riding high on good form,Shrestha of Haryana thrashed Saransh of Haryana in straight frames 3-0 (77-42,65-47,43-34),while Deepinder of Punjab whitewashed Aaryan of Haryana by 3-0 (84-23,68-45,56-34) to surge ahead in the second tournament of the ProCircuitLeague 6-tournament series at Asia Billiards Hall,Sector 34,Chandigarh. Shrestha will now face Ankur Nanda of Haryana in the second round.

GMSSS-10 fencers claim title

CHANDIGARH: Showing off their mettle,Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 10,fencers claimed overall fencing title in the ongoing UT Inter-School tournament being held in Chandigarh. Carmel Convent,Sector 9,and Chitkara International School,Sector 25,finished second and third respectively.

CLTA-AITA tourney from Aug 27

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA) is organising CLTA-AITA Championship Series tennis tournament for Boys & Girls Under-14 and Under-18 from August 27 to August 31.The qualifying matches for this event will be played on August 25 and August 26. The players from different states of India will participate in the tournament. As many as 328 players have signed-in for qualifying event. The qualifying first round matches will be played at Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA) Complex and Lake Sports Complex,Chandigarh August 25.

Wild Card for the Main Draw have been given to the following players:

Boys Under-14: Calvin Golmei,Jagdeep Singh Bajwa,Kabir Manrai,Keshav Vasudeva.

CGA golf tourney today

CHANDIGARH: The first CGA Juniors golf tournament will be played on August 25 and 26 at Septa Golf Course at Chandimandir. There are a total of 80 participants in all categories.Competitions will be held in five categories: A (15-17 years),B (13-14 years),C (11-12 years),D (8-10 years) and E (5-7 years). While A,B,C and D categories will be playing 36 holes over two days,category E will play 9 holes a day for two days. Apart from the winner in each category,there will be prizes for 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up as well. All participants will be given a gift hamper of golfing items like T- Shirts,golf balls and golf cap.Chandigarh Golf Association president CSR Reddy,IPS,informed that the participants include golfers like Vivek Gupta,Paramjeet Yadav,Yuvraj Sandhu,Pukhraj Gill,Karandeep Kochhar,Jaiveer Sandhu,Kartik Digvijay Singh,Aadil Bedi,Digraj Gill,Yuvraj Singh and Vasundhara Thiara.
