CHE Workshop in North India

For the first time in the northern region,the Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) Program was held at the campus of Pearls Institute of Hospitality & Management,Ramnagar,Banur,Patiala. CHE is a globally recognized,award-winning certification program offered by the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AH&LEI). This certification is aimed at creating teaching excellence in hospitality institutes worldwide. The four-day workshop which concluded on July 16 saw a huge participation from instructors of various hotel management and tourism institutes across the world. Apart from students,their parents,the top management of the Pearls Group including Sikander Singh,K J S Toor,Harpartap Singh,M L Sehjpal,Harnam Singh and Anu Bansal too graced the event. While the Directors announced scholarships for the wards of freedom fighters and bravery award recipients,Mathew Sorensen,Principal of Pearls Institute of Hospitality & Management,recommended this certification to the entire hospitality teaching community. K.V. Simon,Regional Vice President of the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AH&LEI) spoke of the program as one which transforms the teacher,teaching styles and methods. The keynote speaker was Ramesh Takulia,Director of Learning and Development for Taj Hotels Luxury Division. Takulia is the first Indian to be awarded The Lamp of Knowledge Award by the American Hotel & Lodging Association for Outstanding International Educator for the year 2009-2010.
