Self-styled godman held for murder

The district police have claimed to solve the murder case of one Kavita Rani,of Shiv Nagar Mohalla. SSP Rakesh Aggarwal,while addressing the mediapersons,said they have arrested a self-styled godman Satinder Kumar alias Swami Sachidanand in the case. Kavita,40,was found dead at her house some days ago. She had given Rs 4 lakh to Satinder but when she came to know that he was involved in some fraud cases,she started demanding her money back. On the intervening night of November 28 and 29,he strangulated her. A case has been registered.

Two arrested for graft
JALANDHAR:The Medical Superintendent (MS) of Jalandhar Civil Hospital and his junior assistant were arrested by the Economic Offence Wing of the Vigilance on Tuesday. They were arrested on the complaint of the chief pharmacist of the hospital,Pawan Kumar. Junior Assistant Ramesh Chander was arrested while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000,allegedly on behalf of MS Ashok Nayyar. Kumar said he had already paid Rs 5,000 to the MS through Chander and was paying the rest now.
