Ropar police on Tuesday lodged another FIR against two people in connection with the Morinda sacrilege incident.

Those booked were identified as Jassa Singh the caretaker at Gurudwara Kotwali Sahib and Parmatma Singh, the member of the management committee of the gurudwara. Both accused are yet to be arrested. Morinda (city) SHO Inspector Gursewak Singh said that Jassa Singh was booked as said that the incident was not of sacrilege while Parmatma Singh was booked as he fled after the incident and did not take responsibility.

The case had been registered under section 153 (who indulge in wanton vilification or attacks upon the religion, race, place of birth) of IPC at Morinda (city) police station.

Meanwhile, it was revealed that the accused who had desecrated the Guru Granth Sahib at Gurudwara Kotwali Sahib is an electrician and was running a shop. The motive of his crime could not be ascertained yet.

Meanwhile, protesters ended their stir on Tuesday and roads were opened for the public. The situation was normal after the protest and the local police appealed to the people to maintain peace. Earlier, in the day, shopkeepers closed their shops and said that they shall not open the shops till the culprit gets stringent punishment.

Gurmeet Singh one of the shopkeepers told The Indian Express that there is anger among the people and the protest shall go on.
A tense situation was witnessed in the market when the town was visited on Tuesday morning. People were gathered in the town and decided to continue the protest.
