The Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi will present a Kathak performance by eminent exponent Pandit Jayant Kastuar. Kastuar is hailed not only as an outstanding artiste,but also as a thinker,scholar,visionary,designer,director and administrator in the field of performing arts in India. He is a senior disciple of the great Kathak legend Pandit Durgalal,who was the torchbearer of Jaipur gharana of Kathak in the 80s. Kastuar will be accompanied on the tabla by Pandit Fateh Singh Gangani. During the performance,Kastuar will present select nritta (pure dance) compositions of his guru,various forms of gats,layakari in upaj and thumri bhava and bhajan. The performance will mark the 65th birth anniversary of his guru. The performance will be held today at Tagore Theatre.
