PSEB Class VIII results: Punjab’s Hoshiarpur boy tops state with 100% marks

The Punjab School Education Board on Friday announced the Class VIII results for the 2024-2025 academic year. Of 2,90,471 candidates from 10,471 schools, 282,627 students have been promoted, achieving a pass percentage of 97.30.

Puneet Verma, son of Ashok Verma and Neetu Verma, from Shri Guru Harkrishan Public School in Hoshiarpur, secured 100% marks and topped the exam.

Navjot Kaur, daughter of karanjit Singh and Veerpal Kaur, from Sant Mohan Das Memorial Senior Secondary School in Faridkot, also achieved 100% marks to secure second place.

Another student Navjot Kaur, daughter of Gurmej Singh and Kuljit Kaur, from Guru Nanak Public Senior Secondary School in Amritsar, stood third with 99.83% marks.

PSEB chairman Amarpal Singh said that the board examinations were conducted with increased transparency. Efforts are being made to improve the quality of the question paper quality and curriculum.

The results are available on the PSEB website and supplementary exams for non-promoted candidates will be held in June 2025.
4 from Mohali make it to the merit list Of the total 319 students who made it to the merit list, only four were from Mohali.

In Mohali, Samriti Verma — a student of Karkaur government school, Dera Bassi tehsil — secured the top position with a pass percentage of 99.18%. Her overall rank was 43rd.

The following top three positions were secured by Mithu, a student of Jandpur government middle school in Kharar tehsil, with a pass percentage of 98.50% and rank of 109th; Amanpreet Kaur from Siaon government school in Mohali tehsil (98.17% pass percentage and 216th rank); and Sutej from Baltana’s Mount View Public School in Zirakpur tehsil (98.17% pass percentage and 221st rank), according to official data.

Bains congratulates students

Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains congratulated students of class VIII of the Punjab School Education Board on their remarkable results, announced on Friday.

Wishing the promoted students all the best for the future, S. Bains motivated the other students to work harder and follow the toppers.

Amritsar district secures 1st place with 98.85% pass percentage

Amritsar district — with a pass percentage of 98.85% — secured the first position in the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), which announced its Class VIII results for the 2024-2025 academic year on Friday.

According to official data, Pathankot bagged the second position with a pass percentage of 98.76%, followed by Gurdaspur (98.73%), Kapurthala (98.50%), Ferozepur (98.26%), S B S Nagar (98.13%), Tarn Taran (98.04%), Hoshiarpur (98%), Faridkot (97.98%) and Mansa (97.97%).
S A S Nagar in Mohali district, where the PSEB headquarters is located, ranked 11th with a pass percentage of 97.63%. With a pass percentage of 95.61%, Sri Muktsar Sahib district came last at the 23rd position.

This year, girl students have outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 98.9% against latter’s 96.49%.

Also, all nine transgender students who had appeared for the exams, passed — a 100% pass rate in this category.

However, there is a decline in the overall pass percentage this year, at 97.30%, against last year’s 98.31%, according to data.

The results are available on the PSEB website and supplementary exams for non-promoted candidates will be held in June 2025.
