Ranike,grandson hijack R-Day function

During the celebration of Republic Day in Kapurthala district,Punjab Minister of Animal Husbandry Gulzar Singh Ranike ignored the programme schedule for his grandson.

During the celebration of Republic Day in Kapurthala district yesterday,Punjab Minister of Animal Husbandry Gulzar Singh Ranike ignored the programme schedule for his grandson. As grandfather (minister) and grandson took up maximum time during the function, the other students, who had prepared their cultural items for the day after long rehearsals and practice, were quite upset.

As per schedule, the programme started at 10 am after hoisting of the Tricolour and it was to be finished at 12 noon with the National Anthem. The minister took quite long to finish his speech without caring about the scheduled time (10 minutes),as per the programme.

When children of a local school entered the venue for their performance in martial arts, they were stopped suddenly and an unscheduled individual performance by the minister’s grandson was announced from the mic. The grandson performed ‘gatka’ (martial art) for nearly 15 minutes. The moment his performance was over, many Akali jathedars (leaders) started giving money to the boy to show their appreciation, and the name of every jathedar who gave money was announced, further delaying the scheduled programme.

Participants and the organisers expressed their unhappiness over this attitude of the minister and said there was no point in allowing such an unscheduled performance in between the programme.
