Ramlila gets a tech script

From 3D effects to revolving stage to real characters flying, this year’s Ramlila has technology written all over it.

From 3D effects to revolving stage to real characters flying, this year’s Ramlila has technology written all over it.

To give a real effect to the scenes, some of the characters like Hanuman and Jatayu in Ramlila performed by Ordinance Cable Factory Sanskritik Manch,Sector 29 fly in the air. These are not dummies or statutes but persons who actually fly.

“Till now,we used to replace actual characters with dummies. But this time,we have used real persons, not even replacing them with children. They are shown flying at a height of more than 15-20 feet,” said Jyoti Bhardwaj, one of the organisers of the OCF Ramlila.

In another scene, where Kevat (a character) has to cross the Ganga,a real boat is shown moving on the stage.

Dashrath Sanskar and Lanka Dehan are equally popular with the viewers.

In the Ramlila performed by Sector 17 Ramlila Committee, the entire 90-feet stage is divided into different sections.

This enables not only the stage to revolve but also change with the scenes.
