Raising Day parade held

The Chandigarh Police on Monday organised a ‘Raising Day’ parade of the police at the Police Lines in Sector 26. The parade was inspected by Punjab Governor and Administrator Shivraj Patil.

Raising Day Parade of Chandigarh Police was celebrated for the first time since the inception of the Chandigarh police on November 1,1966. Addressing the function,Patil said the responsibilities of the police force are manifold and only well trained well equipped and well motivated police personnel can carry out these duties effectively and fruitfully.

The Administrator said that while maintaining law and order,the police have a duty to ensure that the guilty are not spared but the innocents are not harmed at any cost. The highly professional and unbiased humane approach on the part of police can go a long way in bridging the gap between police and public and also to win the confidence of the people,he said.
