On the complaint of a UK-based woman who said a doctor in Sector 22 damaged her skin in the name of treatment, the police arrested Pardeep Khurana (35) on Thursday. He turned out to be a quack and has been booked for cheating.
Khurana,a resident of Mohali, used to claim that he could remove unwanted hair and also treat damaged hair, charging hefty amounts as fee at his clinic German Laser Centre in Sector 22.
Investigations revealed he has studied only till Class X and possesses a fake medical degree.
According to the complaint by Kuldip Kaur, she had approached the centre after reading an advertisement in July last year about one
Dr Tarun Narang offering 50 per cent discount on removal of unwanted hair.
She was promised that she would get rid of the hair in six sittings, and it would be a painless procedure. She never got the desired results,Kaur alleged, rather her skin was damaged. Later, she realised that it was not the qualified Dr Narang who was treating her but Khurana.
Kaur alleged that after Khurana realised that his fraud was out in the open,he tried to force her to reach a compromise. He allegedly told her that he would ask practising physicians Dr Tarun Narang and Dr Sanjeev Kumar, who pay visits at his clinics on weekends,to give in writing that they had treated her and not him. The role of Dr Sanjeev Kumar and Dr Narang will also be probed, said a police officer.
The police have also found out that Khurana wrote prescription slips claiming himself to be a doctor. They now plan to match Khuranas handwriting with that on slips allegedly issued by him to nail him.
