PUTA election result out

All members of the teaching staff of Panjab University voted for the election of the new committee.

The election for the executive committee for Panjab University Students’ Association (PUTA) was held at Panjab University on Thursday.

Out of the two groups contesting the election, the group led by professor Akshay Kumar and professor Amrinder Pal emerged winners.

All members of the teaching staff of Panjab University voted for the election of the new committee.

Professor Akshay from the department of English was elected the president for the committee.

“As promised in our manifesto, we will work for the promotion of teachers under CAS. Additional increments for MTech, LLM and PhD scholars, maintenance of residential areas of Sector 25and teachers flats in Sector 14 and direct recruitment against vacant positions are also on our agenda.

In the long run, we will also work towards improving the financial status of the  varsity.”

Accepting the verdict given by the teachers, Professor Devinder Singh said from the rival group said, “Our candidates lost by a narrow margin. We humbly accept the verdict given by the teachers and will continue to work towards the welfare of teachers and the university.”
