Chandigarh: To keep the traffic police better equipped to tackle the traffic menace and offenders,the Punjab and Haryana High Court,on Friday,asked the Chandigarh Police to allocate 100 more traffic policemen to its existing fleet. Presently,the traffic police has nearly 450 policemen.
Man gets 2 years in jail for assault
PANCHKULA: Additional District and Sessions Judge,Rajesh Garg,on Friday awarded two years jail term to one Hari Om and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on two othersHemraj and Jitendar . Hari Om was held guilty for voluntarily causing grievous hurt,while Surinder and Ashok were held guilty for voluntarily causing simple hurt.
MC impounds 16 stray cattle as part of special drive
Chandigarh: The municipal corporation,on Friday,again started its special stray cattle catching drive and impounded 16 stray cattle from Sector 48,49,50,51 and adjoining areas. The cattle impounded will not be released as keeping of animals within the municipal limits is not permissible. The report against the owners who will approach MC to free the cattle will be lodged with the police.
