PU allows candidates to use radio station,website

The applications will have to be submitted to the Dean Student Welfare (DSW),Professor Navdeep Goyal.

However,for utilising the official website,the selected candidates from each student organisation have been asked to submit a two-page powerpoint presentation for the website. Alternatively,a panel of four candidates can also submit an eight-page presentation,which will be displayed on the PU website.

The PU community radio station,Jyotirgamaya,is available on 91.2 MHz and people can listen to it within a radius of 10 kilometers from PU.

The decisions have been made in reference to the vice-chancellor,Professor Arun Kumar Grover’s announcement during the visit of former Chief Election Commissioner,JM Lyngdoh,this month. Professor Grover had offered the use of PU radio station and its official website to the candidates of PU elections,which will also help in limiting poll expenses.

PU spokesperson said that perhaps PU had become one of the first universities in the country to offer the use of technology through its community radio and website to disseminate the information in the students’ council elections.
