Registration for admission to entry level classes in the citys private schools for the academic year 2012-13 began today with Ryan International School,Sector 49,intiating the sale of prospectus and forms. Registration forms for Banyan Tree School,Sector 48,and Mount Carmel School,Sector 47,will be available from November 1 between 9 am and 2 pm.
The forms will be available for Rs 100. The entry level class in all the three schools is pre-nursery and the candidates age for admission to pre-nursery is 3 years and above,informed the schools. A total of 11 registration forms (with prospectus) were purchased at Ryan International School today.
The admission process in a number of other schools will begin in the first two weeks of November while the session will start in April 2012. At a meeting with the UT Education Secretary about 10 days ago,all the private schools had uninanimously decided that purchasing the prospectus along with the registration/ admission form would not be compulsory from this year – unlike last year.
It was also decided that the cost of forms would not exceed Rs 100 and that no school would price the prospectus above Rs 500. Though the schools have set different dates for intitiating the admission process for the academic session 2012-13,all of them will display the list of selected candidates within a six-day period – between January 10 and 15.
Admissions strictly on draw of lots
In line with the provisions of Right to Education (RTE) Act,2009,and the Cental Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) guidelines,the schools were also instructed to conduct admissions purely on the basis of draw of lots. The officials informed that admissions to seats reserved under the 25 per cent quota for childen from economically weaker sections (EWS) of society,too,would be done via draw of lots,after receiving the applications.
