Police dept hosts ‘know your case’ scheme

The Chandigarh Police on Saturday organised ‘know your case’ scheme at all the police stations in the city.

The Chandigarh Police on Saturday organised ‘know your case’ scheme at all the police stations in the city. The motive of the exercise was to bring greater transparency and accountability in police functioning. Citizens visited police stations concerned to find the status of investigation in their respective cases.

A total of 96 persons visited the city police stations to know the status of their cases and complaints. The office of the DSP concerned took the feedback of citizens regarding their visit. The new Chandigarh SSP,Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill visited Sector 17,26 and 34 police stations to witness the functioning of the scheme.

Talking about the initiative,SSP Gill said,“I found it to be very helpful as both complainants and officers get to review the status of investigation in the cases. Another benefit the scheme offers is that the complainant leaves satisfied as his or her case is usually fast-tracked after having a discussion with the officer concerned. The next time,I would be randomly visiting police stations to check the working of the scheme.”
