Physio held for ‘sexual assault’ bid on minor

A physiotherapist working with an NGO was arrested for allegedly making an attempt to sexually assault a 10-year-old disabled girl at the NGO’s office in Sector 38 earlier this week.

Police said a case was registered after the family members of the victim registered a complaint at the Maloya police station alleging that a physiotherapist of HelpAge India NGO allegedly attempted to sexually assault the victim on Monday. The accused has been identified as Satnam Singh.

“We have arrested the accused. The mother of the victim approached us with the complaint that the physiotherapist tried to sexually assault her daughter. We arrested the accused on Wednesday,” SDPO South(city) Navdeep Singh Brar said.

He said the incident took place when the victim went to the NGO office for treatment. An official of the Help Age India NGO said they have terminated the physiotherapist consultant.
