PEC to start three new PG courses from 2011-12 session

Tricity students will get golden opportunity to study ME in Total Quality Engineering & Management,ME in Industrial Design,MSc in Mathematics & Computing.

PEC University of Technology is starting three new post-graduate courses – Master of Engineering in Total Quality Engineering and Management,Master of Engineering in Industrial Design and Master of Science (MSc) programme in Mathematics and Computing from the academic session 2011-12. Admissions to all these courses will be done on the basis of merit list prepared through entrance test conducted by the institute.

Details of the course can be obtained from the institute website. The brochure for admission to the programme containing all the details will be available on the University website http://www.pec.ac.in in June 2011.

The new post graduate programme in Total Quality Engineering and Management leading to ME (TQEM) is being launched with the Quality directions in sight. All graduates in engineering or equivalent shall be eligible to compete.

The programme has been designed to cater to the needs of experienced professionals who may concurrently practice it in industry or work-situation,while they choose to come back to the class room in the evenings. The classes will be held from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm,six days a week.

Part of the course will be taught by experienced professionals,including one course from state of art faculty. Although in evening mode the course is tailored to be completed in three years,those who stay back in day classes may seek the opportunity to register in approved courses offered in the other programmes,so as to expedite it.

The fee for the full course is Rs 25,000 extra per semester (say Rs 1,00,000 for full course,suitably distributed/ timed as is conventionally applicable to three years part time students). The course plans have been evolved after global consultations with experts.

The institute has accredited faculty and Quality assurance professionals to support holistic education and nurture competencies desired for qualifying for such certifications offered globally. ME-Industrial Design would be run on self-financing basis at PEC University of Technology.

The programme would involve support of experts from industry in the field of Industrial design. The Production Engineering Department would initially be the cognate department for the course.

The course would encourage Indian firms and institutions to develop strategic alliances with PEC University of Technology. The duration of the programme for regular students would be two years. The course would be open to fresh or working graduates with BE/ BTech or equivalent degree in any branch of engineering.

The new Master of Science (MSc) programme in Mathematics and Computing is going to be started by the department of Applied Sciences from the academic session 2011-12. It is a two years (regular) programme with an intake of 30 students per batch (General-21,SC-5,ST-3,PH-1).

To be eligible for admission to this programme a candidate must have obtained a recognized Bachelors degree of minimum three years duration (having Mathematics as one of the major subjects) with at least 60 percent marks (5% relaxation for SC/ST and Physically Handicapped category candidates) or an equivalent CGPA.
