PEC launches self-financing research programme

To encourage research among engineering graduates,the PEC University of Technology will soon introduce a self-financing course,Master of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering (Information Security).

To encourage research among engineering graduates,the PEC University of Technology will soon introduce a self-financing course,Master of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering (Information Security). The course will start from the coming academic session and will have 18 seats,with additional five in supernumerary or part time category.

The university will conduct an all India level entrance examination to select candidates for the two-year course. Also,only those candidates can apply whose parent branch of engineering is computer science or information technology.

Information security is coming up as a major field,which would demand a large number of experts in the coming years. Keeping this in mind,the institute has decided to start a post-graduate research programme. An entrance exam has been kept as the criteria for selection to ensure quality among applicants, said one of the senior professors at the university.

The last date for submission of applications is July 5,and the entrance will held on July 21,from 9 am to 10 am. The syllabus for the examination would include 70 per cent data structures,computer hardware and architecture,digital electronics,operating systems and computer networks,while the remaining 30 per cent would constitute algebra and discrete mathematics,aptitude test ad logical reasoning.

Counselling for applicants who clear the test would be conducted on July 23,while the second and last counselling round has been fixed on August 10.

Classes would commence on August 5. The programme will cost around Rs 50,000 per semester (total four semesters).
